Due to the complex needs of our pupils we are committed to providing them a safe, secure and stable environment in which to learn. Pastoral care in the unit is individual. All pupils are offered breakfast and we have, since September, provided pupils with a hot school lunch. Pupils are taught in the unit in pairs, very small groups or individually. Pupils socialise with other pupils and staff at break and lunchtime.
We work with a number of colleagues from Education, Health and Social Services to support pupils. Contact with parents and carers is very regular and parents are able to ring or to come to the unit if they need our help, advice or support.
The unit’s purpose which underpins everything we do is to give our pupils the opportunities to receive the best education we can; to prepare them for their next educational steps; to help and support them in everyday life and to equip them with skills and knowledge to move forwards to adult hood.
